Guelra

In a generation of emigration we want to ask: “How does having left Braga allow you to take another look at this place and its people?” ... This is a work that researches the experience of displacement, the movement of “getting out ”and “getting in”, the in-betweenness …“Getting out ”and “getting in”, can have very different scales and scopes. As is typical of site-specific creations, this work intends to reflect on the social/ cultural space, thinking the body and dance as memory.

Guelra is a transdisciplinary laboratory for artistic interaction that exists in Braga since 2011, based on the transfiguration and experimentation of the city's experience and memory. Each laboratory is guided by a guest artist. During a week of experimentation, the main focus is the hybrid creative research for site specific, interactive environments between the public space, the body and writing, having as a starting point the relationship between movement and sensation, the interaction between movement and other arts, movement as a means of thinking about the body and its limits and movement as a reason for transformation.
